Attention Veterans or the surviving spouse of a veteran:

Venertan's BenefitsYou may qualify for assistance to help cover the costs of assisted living.

If you are a United States veteran or surviving spouse of a veteran, you may qualify for the Aid & Attendance Program and receive monthly benefits to help cover the costs of assisted living care.

What is Aid & Attendance?

Aid & Attendance is a Federal benefit that was added onto a need-based pension offered through The Department of Veteran Affairs. It provides benefits for veterans and surviving spouses who need assistance with their activities of daily living and meet specific requirements. Care provided in an assisting living facility qualifies.

How do you qualify for the benefit?

  1. In order to qualify for this benefit, the veteran would have had to serve at least 90 days of active duty. One of those days needs to be during a recognized period of war.
  2. The veteran or the surviving spouse (or married couple) would have to have less than $80,000 in assets. This excludes a primary residence and a vehicle.
  3. The veteran or surviving spouse must spend the financial assistance on out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  4. The veteran or surviving spouse would need assistance with their activities of daily living.
